Importance of parent communication
I want to provide as many resources to the parents in my classroom as possible. My children have had wonderful teachers in school thus far. However, I have seen the other side of being the parent and not just the teacher. I have learned from some of my kids teachers different ideas to continue to keep parents informed. I would rather have more information than be unsure. As a parent, I always want to know everything that I can possibly do to help my child. I know that I can teach and work with other people's children so much better than my own! So even I, as an educator, need to know what's going on in the classroom for my kids at home so that they actually believe that I know what I'm talking about. Common vocabulary or ways of doing things I have found is a big deal. How often had I heard from parents, "that's not how my teacher does it," or "that's not what my teacher says." This can be so frustrating as a parent when in fact we may be saying the same exact thing but with different wording or we learned it another way but do really know what we are talking about. So I will do my best to provide as much information as possible. Parents if you need more information, are unsure about what I am talking about because I didn't proofread before I posted, lol, or just have questions don't hesitate to let me know!
